Chapter 20: The Charity Ecosystem
Doing Good Better
Cultural and structural issues have led the charity world to be less effective than what we might be used to in the commercial world. But the winds of change are blowing.
The nonprofit sector is gradually and surely moving from an era of simply “Just Doing Good” to one of “Doing Good Well.”
This new era requires the various components of an effective and self sustaining charity ecosystem – the regulator, capacity builders, charities, beneficiaries and the community (individuals, corporations, media and government) – to be in place and to function properly.
